Video Games
Games go on sale more often than almost anything else in gaming, so timing matters less than fit. SnagLedger flags games worth playing on their own merits, notes which platform version runs best, and points out when a physical copy still needs a large day-one download or when a cheaper edition skips content most players will want.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (PS5)
Part two of the FF7 remake trilogy: a huge open-world RPG that critics widely praised at launch.
Catch: It's the middle chapter: the story continues straight from Remake and ends on a cliffhanger, and as of this post the final part hasn't been released. Expect 60+ hours, with a lot of optional side content and minigames.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (Switch 2)
Part one of the FF7 remake trilogy on Switch 2, with the Yuffie episode included.
Catch: It's a Game Key Card: the box contains a key, not the full game, so you download it and need plenty of free storage. It runs at 30fps, where the PS5 version has a 60fps mode. It only covers the opening Midgar part of the original story.
